Man Singh ObservatoryMan Mahal
Located on the bank of River Ganges at Man Mandir Ghat, near Dhashashwamedh Ghat, this beautiful Man Mahal building is an example of the blend of Mughal & Rajput architecture. The palace was built by Raja Man Singh of Amer in 1600AD. One of the unique features of the palace is, its observatory, housed on its roof and built by King Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur and is one of the five observatories that he built in different cities such as Delhi, Ujjain, Mathura & Jaipur under the direction of his astrologer minister-Jagannatha. The observatory built of rare stones represents the scientific flavor prevalent in those times and is equipped with all the instruments which were required to record motion, speed & properties of various stars, planets and other cosmic objects. Instruments here give exact measurements which can match with any modern instrument.
