The temple & monastery were built under the supervision of Thrangu Tulku Rinpoche, a Buddhist monk of Sikkim and is supported by the Government of Sikkim. The temple is spread over an area of more than one hectare. The construction of the temple was started on 18th Dec, 1993 and was completed on 29th Oct 1999. The architecture of the temple is the blend of ancient and modern Tibetan architecture. The architecture & plan of the temple is based on the Buddhist Vihar at Odantapuri in Bihar. The temple campus houses Dharm Chakra Vihar for monks & rooms for visitors which are available on donation basis, a school for Buddha teaching, a hospital in campus is free & open to all on every Monday.
