The Kerar Bir Temple is dedicated to giant demon-Keralavira (Kerar Bir), who was killed by Lord Ram in order to save the people from his atrocities. Lord Ram apparently left the trunk of dead demon Kerar Bir. Later on demon’s followers built a temple in his memory at the same sight and even till date the human trunk like structure can still be seen in the temple premises. A locality named Kerar can also be associated with the story.
