The temple is dedicated to Goddess Sonari Devi and is the seat of Gorakhpanthi Sect of Nath Sampradaya. One Yagyashala with thatched roof is located near the main temple within the campus, where Havan (a religious ceremony) is performed on every Tuesday. The large Banyan (Vat) tree inside the campus is believed to be thousands of years old, its aerial roots present a wonderful sight. 2 km from Sonari Devi, there is another temple called Kanhya Baba Temple, which is believed to be the maternal home of Buddha’s mother. Some scholars identify this place as Ramgram of Kolia but it is not yet finally established. The archaeological remains of amalgamated culture/sect have been recovered from here.
