A degree college here is also named after Baba Raghav Das. His anniversary is celebrated two days before full moon day of Bhandon month. Baba Raghav Das & Bismil Jayanti are also celebrated from 11th Dec to 13th Dec. every year. This place is famous for Anant Peeth- an ashram, established by Shri Anant Mahaprabhu Ji and came into sudden prominence in 1857 during the first struggle of freedom. A local leader Baba Raghav Das (Son of Shri Anant Mahaprabhu Ji) participated vigorously in the political struggle, to overthrow the British Government. A Shaheed Smarak (martyr’s memorial) established inside Anant Peeth, still recalls the spirit of sacrifice and courage shown by local people during the long years of struggle for freedom. A memorial, in the name of martyr Ram Prasad Bismil, who was hanged by the British on 19th Dec, 1927, in Gorakhpur Jail has also been built.
