The place is located on the bank of Manorama river and falls on route of Chaurasi Kosi Parikrama which starts from here on Chaitra Purnima (full moon day) and also ends here on Vaishakh Purnima. It is believed to be the place where King Dashrath of Ayodhya got a Yagya performed seeking to be blessed with sons. Two Ram-Janaki temples exist here, one is governed by Hanuman Garhi Ayodhya and the other one comes under the control of Dashrath Mahal, Ayodhya. People from Gujarat after visiting this place often go to Chhapia to worship at Swami Narayan temple.
