A walled huge historical garden houses five Mughal tombs. One is of Prince Khusro, eldest son of Mughal Emperor Jahangir lying buried in simple sandstone mausoleum with some high quality fretwork windows. Another tomb belongs to Shah Begum, Khusro’s mother (Jahangir’s first wife), who had poisoned herself due to Khusro’s opposition to his father and third tomb is that of Nesa Begum, Khusro’s sister. Nesa begum’s tomb has wonderfully decorated interiors. The fourth tomb, which is in the middle part of the garden, is locally known as Mausoleum of Tombolan. It neither has any inscriptions nor any sign of a tomb. Some people correlate it with Estamboli, the Begum of Fatehpur Sikiri, while others believe that Khusro’s sister Nesa Begum got it constructed for herself but she was finally buried at a different site. This Park was also associated with freedom struggle of India. Though, the park receives few visitors but it is a must visit tourist destination in Allahabad.
