Shri Guru Teg Bahadur, while travelling from Anandpur Sahib (Punjab) to east passed through many places giving sermons to the public, reached Allahabad from Agra in 1666AD or 1723 Vikrami & stayed here for six months & nine days. It was here, that Gurjari Devi- mother of Guru Govind Singh, conceived & Guru Govind Singh was born later who had divinely enlightenment. Guru Govind Singh, during his childhood, also visited this place in 1671AD or 1728 Vikrami and stayed here for five days. A historical well (Kuh Sahib) which is considered very pious, is located in the gurudwara premises. Its building reconstructed by Mahant Pritam Singh in 1965 stands about four feet above the street level. The sanctum is a flat-roofed rectangular congregation hall at the far end of a spacious square compound entered through a double-storey gateway. Guru Granth Sahib is seated on a canopied throne of while marble. One of the side rooms adjacent to the congregation hall represents the Guru's bedroom during his stay here. Two double-storey blocks of rooms, one on either side of the courtyard, provide residential accommodation to staff and visitors. This gurudwara is believed to be very sacred place for Sikhs and those who worship here, their prayers are heard & wishes fulfilled.
