Known as ‘Oxford of East’, the University is located at a distance of about 2 km from Allahabad railway station in Allahabad, U.P., India. The University started functioning with the establishment of Muir Central College in 1872, which was later converted into a University on 23rd Sept. 1887. This is a world famous centre of higher education. Science & Arts faculty buildings are a matchless example of architectural grandeur constructed during 1910-1915. The University got the status of Central University on 19th July 2005.
