Baba Keenaram, one of the founders of Aghora Sect, was born in 1658 AD at Ramgarh village, in Varanasi district, U.P. He is supposed to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva. His Samadhi (Krimkund) is located here and is one of the most visited sites of the city. Keenaram Asthal is a spiritual centre & the headquarter of Aghora sect. It is now one of the main pilgrim sites of Aghora sect. His Samadhi Asthal is a representative of oneness of all sects- Shaivism, Vaishnavism & Shakta. A statue of Dattatreya has been installed inside the Asthal, as a mark of divine meeting that Baba Keenaram is supposed to have had with Bhagwan Dattatreya. A research & service centre of Aghor sect is also located here. Here Dhuni (holy smoke) is being continuously lit for over hundred years & for this they bring wood from cremation ground.
