Sitamarhi is situated on the bank of River Ganges. It is believed to be the place where, Sita lived during her exile from Ayodhya. Her two sons Lav & Kush were born here. It is the place where she was engulfed into the earth. Important tourist attractions are-
1.Sita Samadhi Asthal- (timings-6am to 6pm, open all days) This temple is dedicated to Sita, here a majestic Idol of Sita in white clothes is installed
2.Valmiki Ashram- (100m distance from Sita Samadhi Asthal, Timings- 6am 10pm, open all days, Special day-Lav-Kush Parv when their birthday is celebrated ). Sita Stayed here for eight years during her exile. There is a lake near the Ashram where boating facility is available.
3. Hanuman Idol- A 30 feet high Hanuman Idol at a distance of 50 mts. from Sita Samadhi Asthal is worth seeing, where Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated.
