Rishi Durwasa was the son of Anusuiya & Rishi Atri. He was considered to be the reincarnation of Shiva. The temple is dedicated to Rishi Durwasa & a huge idol of Durwasa Rishi is the main attraction of the temple. Shivlinga, idols of Parvati, Ganesh & Nandi (the bull) are also enshrined in the temple.
