India presents many different art forms and a fine amalgamation of many cultures. Unity in diversity is the main pillar of Indian culture. Seven regional cultural centers of autonomous nature have been established by the Cultural Department of Govt. of India, whose main objective is to preserve, popularize and propagate Indian culture, among the masses and to the different parts of this vast nation. One such centre 'North Central Zone Cultural Centre' is based at Allahabad. It was established in 1986. This centre has been constantly striving hard to achieve its objectives in the states of U.P., M.P., Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Bihar & Delhi. It has been paying particular attention in preserving & promoting various facets of tribal art, classical & semi classical music, stage performances, fine arts and handicrafts. Special efforts are being made to promote young talents. Handicrafts fairs, workshops, kavi sammelans & mushairas are being regularly organized to promote talents. Constant efforts are being made to bring to light many different art forms which are disappearing otherwise, through publications, exhibitions and other such means. In order to promote dramatics and other such forms and also to provide a suitable platform to stage performers, a scheme called 'Natya Punarothan Yojana' (revival of stage performances) has been initiated. A magazine called "Pratibimb" is being published for last few years to provide information about various activities of this centre and its planning.
