Gorakhpur

This is the historical Raghwendra Swami Sarkar Temple, built by the ruler of Gopalpur estate in 18th century.


The temple is situated on a high mound & covers one Acre & 6 decimal area, amidst of thick forest of Sohagi-Barwa wildlife Sanctuary area and is dedicated to Goddess Bokra Devi.


Located at about 10 km south west of Basti city, about 82 km from Gorakhpur near Nagar, on Tanda road in Basti district, U.P.


Chauri-Chaura township came into the prominence on 4th Feb, 1922, which was a turning point in the Non-co-operation movement started by Gandhiji.


Deergheshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and sprawls over an area of 27 bhigha. It is an old historical temple situated near Majhauli Raj town and is believed to be the tapasthali (worship place) of Ashwasthama, son of Guru Dronacharya of Mahabharat Period. The temple is managed by a local trust.


The place is located at a distance of about 82 km from Gorakhpur and can be accessed from Gorakhpur by NH-29A up to Eksarwa & then 15 km distance from here.
