Ayodhya-Faizabad

The temple is located on the northern bank of the River Sai. It has considerable local importance due to the temple of Lord Shiva, who is named here as Belkarnath.


The temple is located on Pratapgarh-Lalganj-Ajhara-Sangipur Road, at a distance of about 45 km from Pratapgarh & 145 km from Ayodhya, in Pratapgarh District, U.P.


Bela Pratapgarh, the district headquarter of Pratapgarh District, gets its name from the Bela Bhawani Temple on the Bank of the River Sai, which flows to the north east side of the town.


Also known as Nandigram, is believed to be the place from where Bharat used to rule over Kosal Kingdom on behalf of Lord Rama, keeping his wooden slippers on a platform as a symbol.

This is the place where King Dashrath of Ayodhya is supposed to have been cremated and a temple to commemorate the memory of King Dashrath is situated here.
